ABOUT THE AL-INVEST 5.0 PROGRAM
The AL-INVEST Program is one of the most important international cooperation projects of the European Commission in Latin America. It began in 1994 looking to attract European investments to Latin America, and with time, based on the realities the region faces, it changed to promote the internationalization and increase the productivity to dozens of micro, small, and medium sized companies (MSMEs) in Latin America.
In 2015 the European Commission launched a bid for the fifth phase of this program: AL-Invest 5.0: an integrated growth for social cohesion in Latin America, and the consortium of 11 international organizations the Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Services and Tourism (CAINCO) of Santa Cruz, Bolivia coordinates won the bid to execute the Project in Latin America.
AL-Invest 5.0 believes employment is the efficient and lasting way to fight against poverty. It supports the development of productive, business, and associative capabilities of MSMEs in Latin America and promotes integration, social inclusion, and decent employment opportunities, thereby promoting the sustainable development of companies. The capacity for business support organizations to provide better support to MSMEs and promote impact ventures is also strengthened. In the Al-Invest 5.0 program, a platform for coordination and exchange of experiences for MSMEs from the 18 Latin American countries is developed.
The main task for the executing consortium of the AL-Invest 5.0 program is to coordinate and carry out the calls for available funds for projects from business support organizations whose focus is to increase productivity of a large number of MSMEs through training, business missions, participation in business rounds, and organization of events or business rounds, among other activities.
The executing consortium is made up of:
Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Services and Tourism of Santa Cruz, Bolivia (CAINCO)
Lima Chamber of Commerce, Peru
Confederacao Das Associacoes Comerciais e empresariais do Brasil (CACB)
National Chamber of Services of Uruguay
